Why is Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Training Important?

The purpose of equality and diversity legislation is to enable employees to work in an environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, bullying and victimisation.

In the UK, we live and work in a diverse society, as a result, we regularly come into contact with people who have different backgrounds, views, values and beliefs. Sometimes, we can be prejudiced without even realising that we are. The purpose of this Equality and Diversity training course is to look at how we can play our part in promoting a culture free from discrimination. To do this, it is important to acknowledge current legislation, but no law can truly get under the skin of how people behave.

Who should attend this course?

This course is recommended for managers at all levels wanting to create an equitable and inclusive workplace culture. Participants will learn to challenge unconscious biases, handle discrimination issues and ensure fair opportunities for all employees.

How is it delivered?

Course Objectives

This 1-day Equality, Diversity and Inclusion workshop can be delivered either as a face-to-face workshop or via a trainer-led remote training session.

Participants receive a digital workbook to support them throughout this development.

As a result of this training, participants will:

  • Define equality, diversity and inclusion and explore how this relates to their day-to-day role.
  • Develop a greater understanding of current legislation and subsequent expectations and obligations of team members
  • Identify the difference between direct and indirect discrimination and the differing effects this can have on individuals
  • Gain the core skills required to manage unequal behaviour effectively in the workplace
  • Develop strategies to promote equality and diversity within their team
